Out of design lines during cut

I have a windows computer, Boss LS, it is in almost every project my laser randomly will go out of design lines. It’s always random, then completes the rest of the project.
Super frustrating obviously bc it has ruined some projects.

Help!!!

How is your computer connected to the laser? This seems like it might be a communication issue.

it’s connected to a USB- C adaptor.

I find it hard to believe it could transfer something with that bad results…

However, is there any chance you can use the Ethernet connection?

I had issues with usb, and have switched to Ethernet… I must say I’ve always had only failures to transfer, not a hodgepodge of graphics that are mixed up…

Have you also tried writing it to a usb stick and loading it into the machine?

Both of these would eliminated the pc → usb connection…

I’ve seen a few other issues on this forum with similar symptoms that were due to communication issues. Can’t say for certain that’s the issue. However, since the panel shows the garbled view we know the file itself contains the bad information and that the issue is not likely mechanical. So either LightBurn is generating a bad file or the file is going bad somewhere along the way.

Is this a new setup for you? Or did this used to work reliably at some point?

Can you confirm that the Preview looks correct for these jobs that get get garbled?

Jack’s suggestion of using usb or ethernet are good ones. Would at least eliminate USB from the equation to see if that’s indeed the potential cause of the issue.

If you do find that USB is the issue then that leaves potentially the issue being:

  1. computer port
  2. cable itself
  3. controller port
  4. software or driver configuration

But first order of business would be to confirm whether or not you can get consistently good burns with a different connection. If other connection types show the same issue then need to look elsewhere for the core problem.

Get it loaded so it looks right, would be a good start

So I read a few different things. And I completely agree with you all I believe it was a connection problem I had connected through an adaptor. So, I went out and bought a new laptop with direct usb ports. However now I have a new problem. Yay!
Everything is mirrored… and still off some. What could that be. Its completely different from before. :grimacing:

Make sure Origin in Device Settings is set to the corner that the machine homes to. That should fix the mirroring.

In what ways is it off?

And has the issue of garbled text gone away?
