I am using the mermaid video on youtube to try print and cut using my passthrough on my laser. I get as far as selecting specific cut areas, select my graphic to be cut, select the cut box and click cut shape and it does, but it also adds a line where the shape splits. It look to me like it will cut the project in half which defeats the purpose of using this feature. Help?? https://youtu.be/NqvcqiXsnLU
I’m assuming you’re cutting a closed shape that’s set to “Fill”. When Filled objects are cut, LightBurn will automatically attempt to close the shape by creating a line across the cut surface. If you do not want this, set the operation to be a Line.
If this is not making sense please send a screenshot showing the problem and preferably also the .lbrn file to examine.
I’ll check and see. If it was it was not what I meant to do.
Fantastic. That was it. I looked right at it and was so disappointed I missed what was in plain sight. Thank you!
Great! Glad you got it.
LightBurn is a surprisingly dense application when it comes to these subtle quality of life features. While many are “obvious” or intuitive in retrospect it’s not necessarily something you’d expect, partially because other similar tools are not as considerate.
One tip, nearly every UI element is accompanied by a tooltip that is visible if you let your mouse pointer hover over the item. There is surprisingly a lot of information that can be gleaned from them.
