Hey folks, I could use some help.
I’m cutting various patterns on my co2, but the design keeps shifting during the job. I’m using 600x600 mm birch plywood, and as you can see, there are six main motifs plus a bunch of smaller extra parts. Only two of the stars came out correctly—on the rest, the pattern shifted.
I first tried cutting just the six stars, but the outer lines came out misaligned. The laser seemed to cut them randomly, jumping around from one to another. I was advised not to group all six together, but rather group each one individually and use “Order by group” in the optimization settings. That solved the problem for now.
However, when I added all the small parts, the problem came back. Everything is single objects—nothing grouped now. I’m getting a bit desperate after ruining 7 or 8 sheets.
Any suggestions? Could it simply be too much for the Ruida controller to keep track of?
i have checked the belts.
How is your computer connected to the machine and how are you running the job? I suspect this is a communications issue.
What do you see on the Ruida display? Does it reflect the misalignment or does it look correct?
If the misalignment is shown in the display then that reinforces a comms issue. Transferring RD file via USB flash drive would prove it out. Once proven out, you could attempt to correct the comms issue but specific approach would depend on current connection method.
for me (who is not an expert) it seems its cuts one and one piece, who has been best result for me. Before i choose sort by group, it cut randomly, and it got even worse. I first though it overlapped randomly from everytime i tried, but it seems now, it overlaps at the same places everytime. I tried removing all small pieces, and tried only the 6 stars, and no problem, it cut nice. StarLampV2_3mm versjon en.lbrn2 (1.2 MB)
i have changed my ordinary USB cable to a Shielded USB cable. And in my Ruida display its so small (with all that details) so its difficult for me to see if its running right.
I havent tried with a USB flash yet, ill try it on my next test
Are you using the send or start button? Send, then start from the control is the preferred method. Sometimes communication issues pop up using start, particularly with a larger file.
Another thing that might cause issue is having too many files / file size stored in the Ruida controller. If you have more than a few files stored, I suggest deleting them and trying the job again.
Normally i use start button. But now i saved the file on a usb memorystick as a .rd file and opened and started it from ruida, with the same result..i do have maby 15 files appr. In the controller, ill try and delete them on next test
Are all the misalignments in the exact same position every time? Or does it change with each run?
What is the result after deleting the files on the controller?
Did you investigate the PWM Rising Edge issue that @ednisley indicated? This isn’t a typical symptom but could still be related. You could test this by engraving a filled square.
Also, after looking more closely at your burn results it looks like to me that your misalignments are happening quite frequently, perhaps at every move between shapes. Are you sure you’re not experiencing this more frequently across designs? If so, then this could be a potential mechanical issue where you have unaccounted steps either due to something being loose or driving your motors too hard.
Yes they are, so it cant be a mecanical issue since its the exact same position every time..
Yes i tried it but same result.
I havent tried this complex jobs before in 60x60 cm with this amount of objects. I think we must outrule mechanical issues since the overlap is the same everytime. I tried do engrave a square at 60x60 cm and the measures were exectly correct, and the angle was also correct. Its over midnight now in Norway, so ill check deleting all files in ruida first thing in the morning
