PiBurn Rotary setup in LightBurn

I have an LS-1416 laser that I can not get to run properly. When I laser an image on a flat piece of wood, it compresses the Y axis.

I would also like to try to burn some Mugs with my PiBurn rotary tool however I can not determine the proper “Circle Pulse” value.

The Boss USB FOB that came with the laser has a Rotary setup file that says 4250, notes by the previous owner say 8000, and PiBurn says to look at the Y axis DM-442 Stepper Motor Control module dip switch (which are set to 6400, and times this value by 2.5 which equals 16000.

On top of that Lightburn does not even have a “Circle Pulse” setting…, the rotary setup Window has a “Steps per Rotation”, is that the same as “Circle Pulse”?

I have been looking over the Boss Laser blogs, it looks like I am the 1st person to ever connect a PiBurn rotary tool up to a Boss Laser.

I sent an email to Boss Laser and they responded saying that the PiBurn rotary does not work with the LS-1416 Boss Laser becasue the rotary stepper motor on the PiBurn is a 3 phase motor whereas it must be a 2 phase to work with the LS-1416. Truns out that the PiBurn uses a 2 phase 57CM13 Leadshine stepper motor (the very same manufacture that made the DM-442 Stepper Motor Control module inside the LS-1416).

I wonder if my Y axis dip switches are set wrong, does anyone know what the Y axis dip switches are suposed to be set to on the DM-442 (switches 5 through 8)?

Has anyone ever used a PiBurn rotary on a Boss Laser before?

Any help would be appreciated.

I think you have it set properly if the motor driver is at 6400 then the rotary gui for steps/rotation should be the 16000 value.

The only other item is the diameter of the driving wheel…

My motor driver is 2000 steps/rotation and the ratio is the same… so mine is set to 2000 x 2.5 = 5000…

Is this what you did?

I suspect you’ll find the PiBurn rotary on lots of machines, including the Thunder…
