Piece alignment

Using 2 squares as my example, is it possible to align the two square side by side so that they have a common side and will only cut that side once? I never can manually move my piece close enough to do that.

Absolutely. Read up on snapping behavior as it’s a vital feature in getting the most out of LightBurn:
Snapping Tool - LightBurn Software Documentation

Snapping has always been a hit or miss for me. Mostly a miss.

Snapping may work differently than what you are used to in other programs. Did you review the documentation to understand the nuances of it?

Other techniques you could use:

  1. Use docking feature
  2. Use numeric edits toolbar along with 3x3 position selection square in that toolbar to manually place the squares

Grab a corner or straight line (the mouse pointer changes to a circled plus) and then you can drag it to another line and it snaps. No problems there for me.

Mine only changes when I grab the middle of the object.

I had to crank up the Object Snapping Distance before I could reliably grab perimeter lines and suchlike:

https://docs.lightburnsoftware.com/UI/SettingsWindow.html#object-snap-distance

It only goes up to 15, which amounts to only 3.5 mm on my display, so it’s still fiddly.

If you can grab the middle you should be able to grab other points. Carefully hover your mouse over a corner or edge. The pointer should change to a reticle. Zoom in if you need enough that you have plenty of space to hover your mouse over the intended area.

If this isn’t working please take a screenshot showing what’s happening.
