Does anyone know where I can find parts for a Pinnacle Laser (pinnacle l-40 laser). I am looking into purchasing a used one locally however the seller has never used it and is not sure where to find parts or the laser tube. I did a search for “Pinnacle Lasers” etc but not much came up. Any help would be very appreciated!!! Any information about Pinnacle Lasers would be appreciated too!!! Thanks so much in advance.
If a “new old stock” machine needs repair parts right off the block, something is badly wrong with the deal unless you’re getting it for free.
If the machine works and that can be demonstrated, then it likely doesn’t need more than minor repair.
You should be able to fire the laser using the TEST button on the power supply after disconnecting the controller cable.
If that works, then you should verify the machine controller can also pulse the laser using the PULSE button on the machine display. If you can get a short pulse on a cardboard / paper target at the tube output, you can verify the tube is resonating properly.
If those tests don’t work, you’re looking at a new tube and possibly the HV power supply, which should dramatically reduce the price you pay.
Ideally, the machine has a Ruida controller. LightBurn supports other DSP controllers with varying levels of jank, due to the undocumented command interfaces.
If that’s the case, then you should verify LightBurn connects & controls at least the laser mechanics. USB will suffice for a quick test, but if the machine does not have an Ethernet connection, you will be in a world of hurt due to USB problems.
If you can’t do any of that and the machine is not free, IMO you should walk away.
Let me clarify. The person selling it has never used the machine. He purchased it used. From the info I got from him (and seeing the pics) the machine is in very good shape. When he purchased it about a year ago everything worked well. After he took the laser home he set it in his basement and never had the time to get things setup due to a change in jobs. So now he is selling the Pinnacle. I have had Co2 lasers in the past (OMT) and also cnc routers. I used Lightburn with all of my lasers.
My only hesitation with purchasing the laser is due to the fact that I know nothing about Pinnacle equipment. I was hoping someone here on the forum may have experience using them and would also know where to find parts and if it is compatible with Chinese lasers.
AFAICT, if you regard the machine as a collection of parts that once behaved much like a laser, you’ll have it about right.
Unless “Pinnacle” was a very high-end brand with proprietary widgetry like servo motors / RF tube / custom controller firmware, you can buy anything necessary from the usual scurrilous sources.
However, while you can retrofit weird parts with more practical components, it comes down to whether you want to buy a laser or a project.
If you want a laser, but can’t verify that it works and works with LightBurn, just walk.
Now, should you want a project, hey, I know that feeling.
