Pixelated engravings

Okay completely new here, I have an Xtool d1pro 20w and I have been trying to engrave on the back of a mirror, and every time it comes out pixelated. The laser seems to be close enough as I did the metal bar thing with the material.

The dpi of the image is 600, I tried with the image being the exact size with no resizing needed as well as using a larger image. Pixelation is super present in both. Please see attachments for settings.

I imported the settings meant for LightBurn directly from xtools. Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

You are engraving an image.

You want to make it a vector object, I stead of raster image. Use the TRACE COMMAND

It seems like it either cut the same snout off pixelation or maybe a little worse

Any other ideas?

Which Image mode did you use?
The default is “Stucki”. This is best used for photo images with different shades.
The dithering in this mode might appear as pixelation of the image.

The frame you are engraving looks like it’s only one color. Try the “Threshold” mode instead.

Or, as @JimNM suggested: Trace the image into vectors first, so you can use the Fill layer mode. Review this video about the Trace function if you need it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClGFqyfG4hU&t=77s
