Hi, first post here.
I just bought a new 5w UV engraver. I bought mainly to engrave on glass.
My problem is, the laser won’t even scratch the surface, it’s like using a 5mw laser pointer.
I read on this forum that in the devices setting that I must choose UV in the drop list, which I did
This is a video the seller sent me before shipping my machine.
This a reply I got from a guy producing videos on You tube Mine is a 3 watt. Setting are 300, 30, 1. Try that and focus out slowly until it starts to engrave. Might have to change the frequency from 30 to 40.
(I can’t enable Q-pulse width setting.)
I try focusing higher and lower very slowly which change nothing. The only time I could get a little bit of noise on the surface of the glass is when I try speed of 25mm
Hope my post will survive the rules of this forum, if not, just delete it.
I don’t think this is available with a UV laser, and I don’t think the normal Raycus will allow you to set the q-pulse.
My understanding is this is only applicable to a MOPA (Master Oscillator Power Amplifier), so anything related to a MO (Master Oscillator) won’t be applicable.
For a focus item, I’d try and use one of the most absorbent metals, such as iron, nickel or copper based on this absorption table.
Mine is an 60W fiber, so I have about 20 times the power, the shorter the lens the more precise you have to be. What lens do you have?
The only real way to focus it, is by it’s noise… When it makes the most noise it’s in it’s best focus point.
Mine has a frequency range of 40khz to 4000kHz… it’s most powerful, as stated, to be at 40kHz. So I’d pick the low end for your machine…
Thanks for the reply.
Someone on this forum mentioned that if you have a UV laser, you must choose Laser type=UV in the drop down menu. When I choose UV, the second drop down menu(Fiber Type) is unavailable (gray). I can’t choose any “Fiber Type.”
