Pneumatic solenoid valve - Air flow when no hose connected

Hi all,

I can’t seem to find information rgds whether air should be flowing from the outlet when hose is disconnected.

The airflow in is strong, while the airflow out of the solenoid is considerably lower, around 50%.

I’ve draped one ply of a tissue around the threads and can’t see any leaks.

Many thanks,
Si.

This is typical. When in maintenance we needed full-flow air from a 1/2’ line, we would use adaptors and a 1" valve. I see no practical way to change it in your setup, except to increase the air pressure to the valve input.

From my experience with solenoids, the vast majority of them cause restriction of passage (loss of load). The greater the flow rate, the greater the percentage of air passage restriction.
Only with specific data from the manufacturers of the solenoid, the air pump and some calculations in between can it be assessed whether this pressure loss is normal or not.
