Power control for a Chinese K40

I have just swapped out the main board of my Chinese k40 (m2 nano) for a monport mainboard that is supported in Lightburn. As most people know, the power level for these lasers are normally controlled manually, as there was nothing in the software (Corel laser, or k40 whisperer) to control it. My question is, now that it’s Lightburn compatible, can I control power in the same way I do with my diode? Or is there some method of varying the speed of an engrave/cut?

If all is good then both speed and power should be controllable through LightBurn.

Note, however, that it seems that Monport have produced a batch of control boards with an issue where PWM voltage uses 3.3V logic which prevents proper power modulation where normal max power cannot be achieved.

You may want to check if you’re in that position. Search this forum for similar issues.
