Hi
I’ve just got a replcement 100w laser that is running a Ruida RDC6445 controller. When cutting a line I run it at 50% power which reads 20-21mA. My problem arises when I slow down to 10mm/s the power drops way down to 4mA. Is there some setting I’m missing. I never had this problem on my old 100w laser. I’m using LightBurn 1.7.08
Ruida has a start speed in the controller. If you’re running at or below the start speed, it will use only minimum power.
Most of these have a default of about 20mm/s, so you’re in the target range. ![]()
Edit → Machine settings
Works something like this, I believe.
When I use slow speeds, I may set both min/max power to the same value… this eliminates the issue, but will burn corners because it can’t apply power scaling.

I’m not sure I understand all that but I changed the start speed to 5mm/sec and it works fine. Thanks for that.
Glad it’s up.
I assumed that fixed it, so I marked my reply as the solution.
Might want to save the settings of the Ruida while you’re in the Machine settings. If your controller dies and you need to replace it, all of the vendor settings will be lost. I have a backup on a local disk, a usb stick and on Google.
It’s easy and quick… if you have to do this from scratch it could be a headache.
Have fun. ![]()
