Power Scale inaccuracy in engraving darkness

Hello. There is a difference in engraving darkness using power scale. For example. Engraving two squares.
Square A is at 300mm/sec and 10% power with 100% power scale
Square B at 300 mm/sec 100% power with 10% power scale.
For some reason Square B engraves darker.
Wondering if you have any ideas as to why that might be?Thanks

Power scaling is done as a percentage between Min and Max power, so if you’ve got a Min power above 0% set for the layer Square B is on, that would lead to a higher power output than 10%.

Thank you very much for that clarification.

The Ruida has a start speed set within the controller. Edit → Machine Settings → [cut, engrave] → Start speed . This appears to determine where the power scaling is applied…

This is how it appears to work on my Ruida. If the speed is <= start speed you will only get minimum power. I think there is a lot more control here than people see.

I don’t know how the Lightburn power scaling modifies this behavior.

If your power is less, the laser minimum power in the controller will be used.
