Power/speed (cut/fill) setting 60watt co2 laser Acrylic 2 color

Any success with cut/fill 3mm 2 color acrylic? 60watt Thunder laser speed and feed suggestions would be appreciated.

The best thing would be to find some waste material and do some simple tests, e.g. LightBurn’s own interval and material tests. I’m not saying that because I don’t want to give you my data, but because no 2 machines are the same. (for 2mm clear acrylic I use approx. 200mm/s and 4-5mA to engrave with and 30mm/s and approx. 10mA to cut it with)
You will get a much better feel for your material and your machine when you spend the time necessary for it.

If you’re a wood worker, you undoubtedly have a box of scrap wood to test ideas out or just need a small piece for some project…

This is no different, plan on a box of damaged or failed work pieces to test and align stuff.

@bernd.dk is right on (arm?) on this. I’ve done modification and found no dot on the alignment target… I stick a piece of scrap wood in front of the mirror/head to find the beam. You want it big enough so it doesn’t hit your paw. I’ve had my beam from m2 to head go over and out of the cabinet… doesn’t take much with theses mirrors.

@ednisley has done a lot of fill on acrylic work…At least I’ve seen lots of photos of it from him. Hopefully he’ll find his way over if you need help…

Good luck - Take care

Sounds like the Trolase I turned into plant markers.

  • Engraving: 400 mm/s with power in the mid-teens.

  • Cutting: 50 mm/s with power around 50%

Getting the line interval right is critical for high-contrast engraving. I settled on 0.15 mm with focus on the top surface.

However, your results will certainly be different!

This video by Laser Everything makes it very clear how to find the proper dpi or lpi for the best results for any laser. It will be worth the 40 minutes it costs you…

It’s on photo engraving but the same idea is applicable to all applications, generally speaking…

I will be working on some tags this weekend. Will share my results
I have an Omtech 55w CO2 laser

Here the settings used for engraving and cutting:

At the beginning made some tests, and was leaving some residue into the engraved area, so I removed the protective film that has the two color acrylic

Final result, excellent engraving. Ready to install
