Print and Cut: Filled items now open after cutting. HELP

I’ve read a few threads on this, but they still don’t make sense to me.

I have a file I’m trying to split for an oversized project. When I do the cut objects function, the filled objects become open paths. I would have thought they would close automatically, but apparently not.

Is there a fix, other than going node by node and drawing manual lines to close them up? Due to the intricacy of the vector, I’ll be here a long time. Unfortunately, I’m up against the clock to get this done.

Help!

Assuming you’re talking about “Cut Shapes” this is not the expected behavior. Cutting filled shapes should result in closed shapes.

This depends on the shapes being closed to begin with. Is that the case?

Yes, correct. Cut shapes function. I also thought this was odd behavior. I’ve attached the LBRN file for review.

I think in spite of LightBurn showing the design shapes as filled, they are in fact open.

You can check for this by going to Edit->Select open shapes. That will show you all the open shapes.

This is easily remedied in this case by:

  1. Select entire design
  2. Edit->Close path

Then retry the Cut Shapes operation.
