Print and cut targets not lining up

Hi, Trying to use Print and Cut and having some issues. I have a simple design, let’s just say a rectangle for now that is too large for my laser bed. So I am basically cutting it in half, a top half and a bottom half. I either break nodes at the lower two legs of the top part of the rectangle or use cut shapes to break into top and bottom parts. I then make targets and place them close to the bottom/lateral two legs of the top rectangle. I burn the top rectangle with the two targets included. So far so good. Then I move the entire piece in the laser up so that the bottom parts fits on the laser bed. I jog the head and line up the right target to the red beam dot, go in Lightburn, select the right target and set that target. Jog to the left target so red dot is on that crosshairs. Go into Lightburn and select that and set that target. When I go to cut the bottom piece I get a shift of about 1/4 inch to the right, relative to the top cut lines and it starts to cut the bottom piece about 1 inch higher than the targets. I cannot figure out why it would not start cutting exactly on the targets. Anyhelp would beget. Jim

Perhaps your red dot isn’t aligned with your actual laser. I always pulse the laser rather than relying on the red dot for alignment.

Hi Tim, That is very good advise. However, I did think of that yesterday and made a small mark on a piece of wood and pulsed the machine. It was pretty much right on. Jim

My Ruida KT332N controller sometimes does not report the correct coordinates during the first pass through PnC alignment, producing absurdly wrong results.

Do the PnC dance twice to see if the second time has the charm. :frowning:

Hi Ed, I will give it a try when I get a chance. Jim
