Problem with Boxes.py

I have been using boxes.py for quite sometime. Recently when I design and import a box into lightburn it imports at the wrong dimensions, e.g if i ask for 100mm it will show up as 92mm. This is the case with any dimensions I ask for, it always comes up short. I am using the latest update and this is happening regardless of laser connection.
I’m hoping this is a setting somewhere that can give a quick fix.
I’d appreciate any help.
Thanks.

Can you attach one of your Boxes.py files to have a look at?

Thanks for the reply Marcus, unfortunately I wont be at my computer for a couple of days, I’m on a weekend break and currently using my tablet.
I’m also not sure if this happening with other imported files, I’ll need to check on that too.
I’ll upload as soon as I can.
Thanks again.

Ok, no problem. Have a great weekend :grinning:

Because boxes.py can export into LightBurn format, you should be able to just open the file without importing it. Is the scale wrong when you do that?

If you’re making a bank shot off SVG, verify Edit → Settings → File Settings has the proper SVG scaling. The ratio between 96 and 72 is larger than the error you report, but check it anyway.

Does the Reference box measure 100 mm in the layout?

That was my first thought but when I checked the ratio it didn’t equate to the error @Scotty01 is seeing (as you also point out).

How much customization did you do? I found that when I started playing with the finger joint to thickness ratios, I started making errors in the design.

I hope I have done this right.
I have tried to include a couple of pictures.
I now wonder if I am measuring this incorrectly.
If the pictures are clear, you will see that the straight flat edge is 94mm but the measurement from finger end to opposite finger end is 100mm.
I want the straight flat edge to be 100mm.
I have checked the proper SVG settings and this is at 96.
This issue has happened with SVG or lbm2 format.
It may be worth noting that this issue appeared when I changed from my Atomstack x20pro to the Lasermatic 10.
If I am indeed measuring incorrectly, I apologise for wasting your time.
I am however impressed by the way you guys are prepared to help.

Kind regards
Stephen.

OMG,I can’t believe that I have been so stupid.
Please accept my apologies, all good.
Thanks, you guys are great.
Stephen.

Lol. For anyone who might find this in the future… Am I correct that the solution is that you had set the dimensions to outside dimensions instead of inside dimensions?

Yep! I don’t feel stupid at all.
I should know better; I’ve been using this program for ages.

Thanks again.
