we are encountering an issue with our F1 Ultra in combination with Lightburn.
We recently updated everything to the newest version (XCS 2.3.24 / Lightburn 1.7.04 / F1 Ultra 40.52.012.2020.01.ht5 / Plugin 1.4.22)
Today, we experienced a phenomenon where the laser suddenly shifted 1 cm to the left in the middle of the engraving. It then continued engraving precisely for a few times, only to suddenly shift 2 cm to the right.
As we have discovered, this issue occurs exclusively during fill engraving, whereas outline engraving works perfectly.
We added an outline to the letters, and the laser shifts position during the fill engraving but then engraves the subsequent outline in the “correct” position.
Engraving works flawlessly in XCS (xTool software), so it seems to be an issue with FILL ENGRAVING in Lightburn since the last firmware update.
I’m having the exact same problem. Sometimes it completes a FILL engraving (even with multiple passes), and other times it shifts some seemingly random distance to the right without even completing the first pass.
I just engraved on the bare table because it shifted to the right by ~50mm.
Highly frustrating. xTool has done a garbage job with making this machine “functional” within Lightburn, and I strongly detest using their software. I’m sure it’s great for beginners, but when you know how to use Lightburn, their software feels like digging a hole with a spoon.
Hello, I don’t have a solution to your problem as I haven’t experienced it yet myself. I just got my F1 Ultra this week, but I am having problems with the camera in the F1 Ultra not working in Lightburn and not being able to activate the Fiber Laser when needed. have you had these problems?
This looks like a comms issue with the laser itself. Could you describe your connection path over USB? Do you have any USB hubs or extenders in-line that could be removed?
It is connected to the laser directly without any hubs etc., using the original USB cable.
Also wrote to the xtool support, but since it only happends in Lightburn, they are not willing to spend too much time in a solution.
Any updates I have the same issues I just bought a F1 ultra recently, havent even tried it in light burn until now and am having the same problem. I opened a ticket will reply here if I hear anything promising.
The xTool F1 Ultra connects over USB, but acts as an ethernet connection. It creates an ipaddress. The camera can be controlled with several http-requests. XTool software XCS is based on the Atom IDE platform which means it is chromium based. This way you can open dev-tools and see where each request goes to and what network protocol is being used. Some commands are http-get and some are http-post. And live feedback from the F1 Ultra during engraving is communicated over websocket.
I managed to control the brightness of the LED inside, setting exposure of the camera, grabbing pictures from the camera. Over websocket you get all kinds of information about the laser, hardware and current project it is working on, all formatted in json.
