I need help with a problem with the Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro S2. A few days ago I engraved my logo on a stainless steel water bottle (first image) with 2 passes, 2,400 speed, 80% power. Then yesterday I engraved another identical bottle with the same settings (second image), and the problem is that it doesn’t look as sharp as the first time.
Hi Irvin
From what I can see the second image has a rectangle around it but the first does not.
The only variables could be focus distance and the bottle itself.
The R (circled) also looks slightly blury.
Did you use an image (.PNG) or a vector (object)?
The second looks like an image where there was a bit of background getting transferred.
Focal depth is critical for getting good results. Make sure your laser is centered over the highest part of the tumbler, for repeatability.
The truth is that I don’t know what the rectangle is due to, but my main problem is that the laser is not engraving in silver color, but darker, despite having the same settings. I cleaned the laser with a cotton swab and alcohol, but it remains the same.
i use a png but i click trace image in lightburn, and then delete the original image, but my problem is that the laser engrave more black than silver with the same parameters, i cleaned the laser with cotton swab and alcohol but still same result
A change in focus will change how much heat is absorbed by the metal. Yes, over exposure will darken the metal. Move faster or use less power or change focus. That is the tough part, getting repeatable results. Then when you change brands or colors of tumblers, it all changes again. Blue paint is harder to remove with my diode, as my laser is also blue
When I run a batch for sale, I always order at least one extra tumbler for the tune-up proces.
The Trace may not be 100% acurate, if you zoom in are there any flaws like slightly wiggly lines etc. You can also delete the outer triangle if you Ungroup all the parts.
If the trace needs to be tidied up just watch a lightburn video on the subject and it will show you what to do.
I have found that tumblers, painted or powder coated sometimes have different thickness coatings, which will give varying results, sometimes its not just your initial settings
For one thing they are not in the same lighting.
True! It would be nice to see the trace on screen because there are two lines above and below the font.
