With a big CO₂ laser, you should be able to run it around 300 mm/s at high acceleration, using enough power to mark cardboard. The point is not to have a beautiful work of art, but to stress the machine as much as possible while producing a visible result.
I’ve given up trying to figure out why the world is the way it is, particularly with regard to laser machine hardware.
However, you now have a diagnostic test showing a mechanical problem. Your job is to find the backlash, fix it , then verify the fix using the same test.
Some previous discussion describe where other folks found obscure problems:
hi all…
my laser is Laser Tree LT 40W f23…motherboard MKS dlc 32 v2.1…working area frame is 600x500…2 motors on Y axis and 1 motor on Z axis.
I tried to make material test and photo image on the slate coaster, and it engraved double or unclear.I tried several speeds and powers and it does the same.

Hello! I’m currently experiencing a really strange issue on my CO2 Laser. I was making a jig to hold square whiskey glasses, and I noticed that each square I cut out was progressively larger and larger in the X direction. The requested size is 2.9", and depending on where I’m engraving along the X-Axis, this varies. So in my case, engraving left to right, the X axis of each square measures 2.88", 2.89, 2.94, 2.99, and 3.04. Now, I engraved two sets of squares, and both the top and bottom set of …
I have a strange alignment issue. I think it’s machine problem, but hopefully it is fixable. All three corners, left back, left front, right front, are aligned spot on perfectly to the center of the 3rd mirror. When i move the cutting head to right back position, the pulse on third mirror is off. If i adjust the second mirror to aligned at back right same to back left, then i miss the other positions front corners
Is this a guide rail issue, leveling issue or am i doing something wrong? The pho…
I downloaded a new version of Lightburn and now I am having issues with double letters. Before the download, everything was perfectly fine.
Mirrors and lenses are clean and aligned, bed is level. I checked the belt, and I did slightly tighten it, but that didn’t change anything. My cuts are fine.
