Problems with selecting objects

Hi guys, i don’t know if i have accidentally changed a setting somewhere, or indeed how to solve it.

As of today i can’t seem to select an object if it’s inside another object. I have to hide one object to be able to select the other one, i have no idea what’S going on. They are not grouped, and as far as i can see, there is no other setting that i have changed, although that doesn’t mean anything.
Not sure if i can upload a video here, but if i figure it out i have done a screen recording of the problem.
Anyone have any ideas whats going on?

One way to troubleshoot is to try to see if you can reproduce the “error”. That is, draw a new shape with another shape inside, can you select the new shapes individually or not?

interesting, seems it only does it on this particular design. I wonder why.

If you upload that file we can have a look at it.

Do you have filled rendering turned on? That sometimes causes problems with selecting the wrong thing.

I do have filled rendering on, but i also have had that on pretty much always. So it would be strange if that’S the case. Can’T seem to upload videos here, so i would have to upload the video to youtube first, then you can have a look

Use a left to right selection box. That (red) lasso will only select objects entirely contained by the red area, rather than the green one (right to left) which selects everything it touches.

When That happens to me, I just zoom in so I can spread the two lines apart.

This is standar, of course, i am not that new to lightburn;-) this is a whole different thing, involving single click on an object that is inside another object

Yeah, but in this instance Mikey, the lines are nowhere near each other, that’s why i was so confused.

I had the same thing happen to me within the past week. On my screen, the items were separated by about 1/8". Surely that was far enough apart to separate them with the mouse pointer.

Forgive my lack of a technical explanation, but maybe the zone of influence (pixel snap range) overlapped the inner object. It only happened once, so I did not get stuck on it.

If you have the outer shape set to Fill mode you have to make sure you click the right shape by temporarily setting it to Line mode.
