Problems with some tools not available on imported .lbn2 files

I am creating boxes in an online generator (boxes.py). I export from the generator as a .lbn2 file type. Two issues specifically:

  1. Boolean operations. I create a shape like a square using that tool, and when I select one that shape and one o he generated shapes none of the Boolean operations all of the choices are grayed out.
  2. Probably lat, t I ry to curve the edges of those generated parts.curve doesn’t see the corners as corners so doesn’t round the corners.

Have checked to see if they are closed shapes, they seem to be, and I’m sure it’s a user error (me).

Thanks!
Rick

Can you post one of the files generated by boxes.py? I don’t recall having this issue but I usually use DXF and can’t remember whether I’ve used the LightBurn export option.

The problem occurs when the wrong setting for corners in boxes.py is selected.

Many of these I’ve gotten from boxes.py are not always closed objects… Sometimes the lines don’t even meet.

Thanks Marcus, attached is a file. If you look at the ellipse I’ve added, selecting both the ellipse and shape, none of the join options light up. Nor does the round corners work for me. If you figure this out I will be ever so thankful!
TrayInsert.lbrn2 (12.6 KB)

All shapes must be closed for boolean operations. If you Edit → Select open shapes
it will show that all of your shapes except the eclipse are open.

Here you are. I selected the shape that has the ellipse overlapping it, ungrouped it then selected ‘Close Path’. You can then select the ellipse and you’ll see you can perform boolean operations on them.

Hope this solves your issue.

Jack and Marcus, that solves the riddle! It was right in front of me. Now after closing shapes I have a new puzzle but let me try to work it out… see below:

Yes, I noticed those. IIRC it’s to do with your inner corner selection on boxes.py.

Put the cursor on the loop and press the D key to delete that segment.

Thanks Jack/Marcus

You’re welcome Rick.

If it solved the issue, you can click solved on the post which solved the problem.

This is good when you have an issue, don’t have to read the entire thread.
