Project set up, user setting

I think it would be handy to have a user profile in project set up.
instead of having to change all the defaults every time you start/open a new job
eg: lot of my jobs are full sheet cut outs 1220mm x 2400mm x 18mm
or 800mm x 400 mm x 10mm
sheets are screwed to spoil board in corners of sheets
stock default dimensions of 100 x 100 just to small

eg drop down box with saved setting click on which one and it loads the saved settings

this would be one of my saved settings

Hello Terry,

Thank you for the input.

What you can already do is save a project with the Stock Dimensions and no design, and name it “Full-Sheet-Template.mage”. You can then import this file when starting MillMage here:

Press Ctrl + Shift + S right away to store the new file and keep the template untouched.

Where in the UI would you like to see such a selection box shown? And, would you agree that the templates should include all four sections of Machine Setup, Stock Dimensions, Origin and Zero Point?

What about adding a popup menu to Stock Dimensions like there is for Origin and Zero Point? Call it Saved Dimensions and add a Manage button.

I like the idea of Stock Dimension presets! Logging this suggestion internally.

Hey Arron

I have done as mentioned re saving full sheet
i currently open saved full sheet than, click import file
than drag file into sheet size , which works, like anything you get use to it
Some would class it a hassle, to many clicks to open a single file
as far as where the selection box is Britt idea is goodspot, add another popup above width
re device setup , one can always go into edit machine settings and change in there so that’s not a biggie
project origin and zero point are fine as is

I’m unsure what you mean: What exactly is your workflow, and what do you mean by “too many clicks”?

to many clicks , a term used in nz alot. meaning how many clicks on a mouse button to complete a task at present i have to perform 10 clicks to change settings in project set up
if u were to add user drop down once initial set up done would be.
5 clicks
file
projects setup
user
click on which preset option i want
ok

Sure. But how did you count 10 clicks? You can do “CNC Tools > Project Setup Edit”.

Also use the Hotkey Editor to set a hotkey for the Project Setup Edit.

the clicks on each box having to change measurements

As mentioned, you can set a keyboard shortcut for the Project Setup Edit.

When using the Tab key to advance to the next entry box, you can limit more clicks.

Not to be snarky, but you can even get away without any mouse clicks at all:
Hit the defined keyboard-shortcut, press the tabkey 3 times to move the cursor to the Width field.
Enter the desired value and hit tab. Input the value for the Depth and press the enter key.

That said, I still like the idea of the Stock Presets!
