Projects created on different laptop but when opened on laptop connected to laser get font is missing. never had this issue prior. The projects always etched correctly. This started about two upgrades ago. Did anything change?
In newer versions of Lightburn, it stores the vector information to reproduce the shape(s) for each font, along with the font. So, if 2 computers don’t have the same font(s) loaded, it should still resolve itself with the stored vector information. What versions of Lightburn are running on each computer?
Both are running 1.7.03.
Can you upload the LBRN2 to look at?
This has always been the case, at least as long as I’ve been using LB (just over 3 years). Lightburn only uses the fonts that are installed on the current system. There’s no font embedding capability so if you open the file on a system that doesn’t have that particular font installed then you will get a warning. As @RalphU mentioned: LB does embed the vector information so at least it can be burned by your laser. What you won’t be able to do is edit the text and keep the font, unless you install that same font on that system. Does that make sense?
Hope this helps.
It happens on a lot of them I’ll look for one and attach it.
I have one. How do I attach it in this chat?

The file will load correctly - that is, it will show the Hero Beam font as shapes. But, you don’t have the Hero Beam font installed on your laser laptop. That is why the laser laptop throws the error message about the missing Hero Beam font. But, because LB embeds the vector data for the missing font inside the file, it will still burn correctly, except like @Marcus_Wakefield said, it will have an error message because the font is installed in only one computer.
sometimes it will mess up the font and inject a plain looking letter. not logical on what it is doing in some cases. Why would most letters look good and 1 or 2 look different? Look at this file the words start and finist are different even though I used the same font.
I do appreciate the help. Thank you.

Hmmm… that’s interesting! I can confirm that all four pieces of text are using the same font:
But when opened in LB I see the following:
Very odd indeed. Perhaps the @LightBurn devs would like to take a look to see what’s going on.
I looked at the LBRN2 “code”. Did you create/edit this file with an earlier version of LB? Earlier versions did not save the vector data for the font inside the LB file. I looked at your file with a text editor. and one each of the word “start” and “finish” did not have the vector data. That indicates that the file probably originiated in an earlier version.
Yes, I’ve just noticed that too.
It’s possible but not very old at all. Maybe a rev 1.7.0x. Not a major release 1.x.xx.
I do appreciate the help and glad I’m not crazy.
Can you try opening this one? I temporarily installed the font on my system, opened your file, then saved it. I then uninstalled the font and reopened the file I’d saved. This time I didn’t see the anomalous font issue (I still got the error/warning but that’s expected behaviour). I’ve also looked at the file in a text editor and there’s vector data for all four pieces of text.

That was fine worked as you stated. got the error but it was fixed in the file. thanks so much again for all the help.
@Danyod just to confirm, are you only seeing this issue if you are also getting the error that the desired font is not installed on the computer? What happens if you install the font on the computer from which it is missing?
I can clearly see that there’s something wrong with the way this backup path is handled but I’m trying to narrow down the root cause.
Please try out the latest release candidate here: Index of /LightBurn/RC/LightBurn-v1.7.04-RC-5/
It should fix the issues you are seeing.
