Im going to wait till i get the motor so i can make sure i can get the machine to move properly with lightburn. Because with my luck ill find some other problem and i just want to take it one at a time. I have no experience with any of this cnc/laser stuff. Thank you for all your help so far.
Do what you’re most comfortable with. But there’s really no danger in moving forward. There are plenty of people with 3-axis machines not using the Z-axis. You could disable Z-axis in Edit->Device Settings so LightBurn doesn’t show any options that rely on Z-axis.
Note that you’d still need to manually trigger Z switches since that’s a hardware function.
I got my parts last weekend and got everything up and running. Everything is working as it should. Thanks for all the help.
