Purhcased File, needs tweaking, cant get it to close to boolean

Ok, So i purchased this file today for an ornament. WHen I loaded it into lightburn,I realized that everything was set to to “Cut” when if you cut it all, it results in an unusable ornament. I ungrouped, added nodes and broke the line so that I could change the paths to stop cutting. The last step would be to boolean it to the bottom of the circle so that it is not a big " blob." I understand that the boolean will not work on non closed objects, so I attempted to draw lines to close the tree. it will NOT work. So, Am I not able to close objects with lines and boolean < and If so, what am I doing wrong?
Pictures attached of what I am working with for clarification, as well as the photo from the sale posting where I purchased of the advertised results ( I am not attempting to infringe on copyright, photo is for reference only) and Thank you all in advance .
Of note: my black cuts, Red engraves ( which I am sure all of you will be able to figure out)

. all cuts…

Since I don’t have the original file, I have scanned and traced your Christmas decoration. To get the Christmas trees and the ring separated, I have assigned them different layers. It will probably be a little easier with your file, but the path to get there will be more or less the same.
Notice, I (always) use red as the cut layer and the other colors for engraving.
