Hello everyone,
In the next few months, I plan to order the LightBurn Camera, and I noticed that some people have been 3D printing the case for it. However, I also saw the case for sale online in the LightBurn shop. I was wondering if it’s legal to 3D print one of these files, or if there are any copyright or intellectual property concerns I should be aware of. I don’t want to break any laws.
Generally speaking, anything that you use personally and don’t make money off of, there shouldn’t be a problem.
Mainly these laws provide protection against you creating something and someone else stealing the design and taking your customers away with you receiving no credit.
If you could draw Mickey Mouse, you could have them all over where you are, no problem… When you start selling them as originals, then you have problems.
I printed mine, didn’t use a Lightburn camera. Don’t remember where I found it, but you can try it if you wish.
Good luck
We offer attribution to the original designer, Neil Rosenberg and provide direct links to the STL files so you can print for personal use. Below is the text from our shop where we provide the links.
If you would like to print your own (for personal use), the STL files can be downloaded here.
(Neil’s original design can be found here: Lightburn Camera Mount by Narosenberg - Thingiverse)
Understood, thank you everyone!
