Tip: Quick pre-check for broken DXFs that cause “open shapes” warnings***
If you’re getting open shapes / duplicate lines warnings on client DXFs (especially from Illustrator), I’ve been using a free browser tool I built called DXFix to clean them before import.
It does:
Auto-close micro-gaps within tolerance
Merge duplicates
Arc fitting for faceted curves
Runs 100% locally, no upload. Has saved me a lot of manual node editing.
Thanks for bringing that up! You’re right.
Select Open Shapes is perfect for finding where the gaps are, but it doesn’t auto-close them — you still have to fix them one by one.
That’s why I built this as a complement: my tool auto-closes all micro-gaps within tolerance and merges duplicates before import, so when you then use Select Open Shapes it shows 0 open shapes.
Saves a lot of manual Close Path clicks, especially on messy Illustrator DXFs.

Totally agree, Select Open Shapes is my go-to for diagnosis. I built DXFix just as a pre-step to auto-close the tiny gaps and de-duplicate Illustrator DXFs locally (100% browser-side) so Select Open Shapes ends up showing 0 issues.

Update - Portuguese + English added, better visual Before/After preview, smart suggestion for gaps >1mm without breaking geometry (highlights in red, you accept/reject), plus 3 cutting calculations (Length/Time/Cost).
