I recently purchased an Chinese OMTECH 60w Red and Black. This machine came with the cheap rotary with the metal rollers and a NEMA 23 stepper motor. I also purchased a XTOOL RA2 rotary. The RA2 rotary came with a cable with the same 4 pin style connector that my Y axis and the cheap rotary use. The stepper drivers in the laser are YAKO Stepper Motor Driver YKD2305M-DK. All the wires coming out of the top of the drivers have labels and from what I can see, its a 24V system. I know the stepper motor on the RA2 is a Nema17. My question is, will the RA2 work with my laser or will it fry the NEMA 17 motor and/or possibly damage my laser?
The NEMA23 in the big laser can handle more current than a NEMA17. It’s motor drivers are probably set for too much current for a 1.7" NEMA.
You can read off the current from the stepper motor…
Picture is for steps/rotation, but the ‘Current Table’ shows peak allowed current.
SW1 - SW3 are set to off, on, off… that relates to 4.3A peak…
Here is the data sheet for NEMA17 and NEMA23… Remove the .txt extension…
Data-Sheet-Stepper-Motor-Support.pdf.txt
You’ll notice that Mine were set to double the max value for my motors…
Are the setting in your pictures the correct settings for the NEMA 17 or NEMA 23? mine is set to 4.3 peak and 3.1 rms already. I will have to adjust the pulse as mine is set for 3200.
The picture is actually not set for what the factory put in.
I lowered it to 2.1A as that’s the maximum (2.2 in data sheet) according to the data sheet I have. My motors would burn your fingers, now they just run warm.
I did have to lower the acceleration from 65,000mm/s2 to 48,000mm/s2. I have removed a lot of mass from the head, so I have high accelerations values…
Why are you adjusting the steps/rotation?
Which Ruida do you have?
