Raspberry pi 5.0 case template

I may not be googling for the right words. I’m looking for a case template for the RPI5 that I can download and modify. This is part of a bigger project, but a non-trivial part of it is a compartment that’s a good fit for the pi.

I’ve found tons of cases I can buy, but that’s not where I’m going.

Did you try “laser cut raspberry pi 5 case” ?

Yes. Tons of cases I can buy, but so far no files I could use as a basis to create what I need.

You can start with a solid model of the case suitable for 3D printing:

Perhaps one made from the original STEP files:

Modify the STL as needed, perhaps with Kiri:Mesh:

Slice the result to match the material thickness:

Lay out the slices:

Export from Kiri:Moto, import into LightBurn, modify as needed, set the cut parameters, then Fire. The. Laser.

It’ll take some fiddling to keep the smaller pieces (around the vents & suchlike) from falling into the abyss, but that’s the general process.

Ok, I see how that would work, but lots of material needed. I was hoping for something like the finger joint boxes I see everywhere.

I hadn’t thought of this approach, and I learned something new today!

Thanks

Perhaps:

Same ed from the MIT Piclist?

Interesting. I haven’t seen these come up in my searches. But it’s not the first time I’ve seen google give different results to different people with the same search terms.

Thanks!

Those came from DuckDuckGo: far more useful results with much less chaff.

I guess I need to try them again. Gave up years ago because their results were rather thin on what should be there… Now google is looking like an amazon search. “mens tee shirt, blue XL” Ok, here’s a women’s shirt in small, green, and some bowling balls.
