Re-built my 3018 pro stuck aint the word

Rebuilt my 3018 pro sized it up 500mm x 500mm The problem is my thread is different from my laser to My laser Mount and my work Area is different to the original which believe was Acme or Square Thread .
I have now Trapezoidal and obviously not got gonna work I cant find anything where I cant find the original rod anywhere or if I can swap the copper parts inside work are and Laser mount ?

I think what you need to hear is you need traveling nuts to match the current thread. ACME is a square thread and a standard screw profile will not work in it.

P.S. I have done some rebuilding of specific machines in the past. I once put a 500mm * 3 for XYZ or close to it on a PrintrBot Simple Metal. I am used to altering things and seeing how quickly things can change with purchasing, what is actually available, and using our basic knowledge to understand how to purchase what is available.

Anyway, 500mm * 2 is good stuff. I hope you can find what you need!

Thanks the original is Thread square if i could find it some I would buy two lengths of it but every time I look for it just end’s up going to Trapezoidal ?

It,s 8mm thread and 2mm pitch, Im not very good at looking at stuff like this i have no engineering background just picking bits up slowly :frowning:

Also, belts are better in my opinion for Lasers in general. More speed and control…

I have this older CO2 laser I salvaged by adding in a new controller and changing it a bit. Anyway, the belts on the thing move the laser head quickly and efficiently compared to my lead screw type machines… So, that is just a heads up too.

I re-ordered the Trapazoidal with BrassT-nut ,cut the barrel part off and knocked it into the Laser holder after I knocked the previous brass barrel out and im now Trapazoidal.l instead of square thread .
