many moons ago, I used a Trotec machine… it had the ability to drop reference points on the screen to align your drawings to. Useful when making double sided items so you can drag and snap into the same position as the last part you made. Is there such a thing in LB?
Not sure if I’m understanding exactly how they work but you can use shapes you create that are assigned to T1 or T2 tool layers as “construction” shapes. Tool layers are never burned.
Note you can also lock any shape under the Arrange menu and it will not move from current position.
Trotec has a page devoted to their “positioning aids”. they call them Markers. The Guides are also very helpful to snap shapes to:
Ultimately it looks like Markers are used to aid in job placement. Not sure what controller you have but from the sound of it the approach for doing job placement is comparable but slightly different.
Do you have a red laser pointer on your laser? If so between that and the use of the Job Origin concept in Laser window will help you align parts in a comparable way to the Markers mechanism. The ability to set a marker using the control panel is somewhat analogous to setting Origin on a Ruida controller and using User Origin as Start From method.
Suggest you read about these as they’re very fundamental to laser behavior:
Coordinates & Origin - LightBurn Software Documentation
Additionally, if you put a camera on your laser that can very much aid in job placement.
