Relief Style Tokens

Greetings dearest forum Users
I am here today to show off some of my latest steel Tokens but before that, some context on the title.

Ultimate Rare -style are a series of Yugioh Cards that are given a post-process foiling by means of Intaglio printing and semi-transparent Silver ink. The relief pattern is first laser engraved onto a piece of Copper, gently passed over with Relief Ink and then pressed onto paper with a Hydraulic Press. The goal here is to have microstructures that will reflect light towards the viewer at different Intensities depending on their angle of orientation. This allows patches of art to shine at different angles, creating the illusion that parts of the card are glowing.

My goal has been to recreate the same shine and effects on both paper and steel. While the topic of paper is for another Post, today i wanted to show off some of the results on steel.
This is a Fluff Token

Usually backgrounds on actual Tokens are grey but i kept it blue because blue is cool. The text glows Gold under a correct light but unfortunately it is not the same angle as i need to show off the Foiling. The Spiral pattern in the background is the main feature here. When you spin the card around under light, different sections of the Spiral shine, giving you this illusion that it is spinning.
Next up inside the head of the fluff, there are Horizontal lines on the Fluff mane, and vertical lines inside the head. Just like the spiral background these also shine at different angles when you move the card around
I am not sure how to upload a video but 10 MB limit is too small to show off any detail so i made a high quality Gif for all the enjoyers of numerous pixels. → Big Gif
-It is a 170 MB image so it may take few seconds to load

Interesting application of the laser. I only have diodes, but thanks for sharing!

We have a specific place for showing off your work, called Finished Creations. Suggest you move it there as it will get plenty of views.

The solution is to post the video on something like a Google drive and just put the link in the forum. This eliminates the size issue.

Not really sure what I’m looking at. I expect a token to be something like a coin, these look like it’s done on a flat piece of metal or wood.

:grinning_cat:

I think this is in finished creations. On the top bar says that is the place

They are done on flat stainless steel (0.1mm) since wood won’t really oxidize to show colors like that. They are also very flexy.
Also for the card gaming community Tokens are usually placeholder cards. <3

Sorry, didn’t know why I felt this wasn’t finished creations, so pardon me and my stupidity.

I’m not a card gaming person, so again I apologize for my ignorance in that area. I just wasn’t sure what I was seeing.

Thanks for clarifying, it makes sense now.

They look good, now that I know what I’m looking at.

Take care, have fun, thanks for posting your work.
