Even if @AZRox says no, I am interested in how to do that. ![]()
EXACTLY! How did you do it?
It worked! I’ve watched hours of YouTube videos that couldn’t explain this. Many thanks!
Great, glad I could help.
Ha!!! Step #2 is the “trick”. Thanks!
Yes, the ‘tool’ gets consumed in the process so it needs to be duplicated first. It would be good to have the option to keep the tool after the operation but it’s not a big deal.
A couple of tips/lessons learned for other rookies like me:
- By duplicating it, there is a 2nd Welcome layered on the first. If you recenter it AT ALL after doing these steps, it won’t recenter the Welcome on the base layer and you’ll get shadow cuts.
- I have my laser cutter set to do 2 passes for cuts on this specific wood. It did 4 passes (since it thinks it’s cutting 2 Welcome words). You’ll need to adjust for this.
Yes, you’re correct on both counts. The object that’s been cut looks like this:
I wasn’t sure exactly what your end goal was with this so I didn’t want to bog you down with unnecessary extra information ![]()
If you don’t want these extraneous parts you can always ungroup, delete and use the Node Edit tool to remove the remaining vectors like this:
Hope this clarifies things.
