I am experimenting with cutting jigsaw puzzles with my 60W Omtech.
6mm three ply birch plywood sealed with sanding sealer both sides, spray glued photo onto ply. Cut photo side down. Top side on bare wood doesn’t seem to be excessively smoky on the edges of the pieces, photo side is more than I want and I cannot remove it from the photo. I have my air set at 18psi haven’t increased at this time. Photo was printed on Matte paper, I will try gloss to see if that helps.
As always, any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I have seen Russ use an extra air nozzle which he installs almost 90 degrees to the nozzle, close to the material and in the direction of extraction. He simply blows the gases away before they can condense on the subject. But he used it for acrylic, I think it works fine on other materials too.
Ps. It was not much air he used, but enough for the task
Have you experimented with cutting photo side up since you seem to not be getting a lot of build-up on top?
Alternatively, have you considered using some sort of masking to cover the work surface? That way you could remove it when done. Might be a bit of a pain if you’ve got a ton of pieces though.
