Hi,
This question has been asked a couple of times, but I couldn’t find an answer…
I have two lasers, with both a Sculpfun camera. In the operating system they are both called CAM500, which is not helpful.
I have changed the name via the method described here: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/how-to-rename-hardware-in-device-manager-of-windows:
To rename hardware in Device Manager of Windows 11/10, follow these steps:
- Open Device Manager on your computer.
- Right-click on the hardware and select Properties.
- Go to the Details tab.
- Expand the Property menu and choose the Driver key.
- Right-click on the Driver key and select Copy.
- Open the Registry Editor on your PC.
- Navigate to Enum in HKLM.
- Select Edit > Find.
- Paste the copied Device key and click on Find Next.
- Double-click on the FriendlyName String Value.
- Enter a name you want to set and click on OK.
- Restart your computer.
Worked as a train (a german version, not a uk version, because they are on strike). Under device manager I have now CAM500 and CAM500 1.
HOWEVER… in Lightburn they are still called CAM500 and CAM500. So where does lightburn get the names, if it isn’t from the operating system?
For the rest it increases the efficiency, so happy with the cameras (as long as I know which one to use with which laser…)
