Replacement slats/blades for workspace

I need to replace the (knife blades)/(holding slats)/(support bars)/(resting surface) that you put the material-to-be-cut on, on my Omtech 80W CO2 laser (needs to be ~550mm/~21.5in). What do people use for replacing these parts?

I want about 50 (one full set, and one replacement set). Omtech doesn’t sell them… I have found here and here but after shipping they cost ~$750! That’s way too expensive for what they are. I was playing around with getting a set of 50 custom CnC’ed and it was about the same price .

What are you all using for this? If people don’t have a good answer I’m half tempted to have my own aluminum extrusion mold made and hand out ~$3 slats to people for posterity .

Good idea but in practice not realizable, I think.

A good alternative to the fine aluminum profiles could be 1-2mm stainless steel, cut to size by a metal workshop nearby. The price should be about 1 hour of labor. If you want to spend time sharpening the edges afterwards, it can be done, but I don’t think it’s necessary.

But how can it be that you have to change the profiles, an 80Watt CO2 laser shouldn’t be able to destroy aluminum…?

Light object has some.

I thought the price applied to the minimum order of five blades, but at $9.50 per blade for the size that doesn’t quite fit my laser, I’d definitely try something else … :hammer_and_wrench:

I was looking at the $2.75 ones. 4x20. I wasn’t sure of the size needed.

I am working with something that is very large and droopy so I need more slats/profiles then what came with the machine. And I need all the slats to match so… buy a full set. And then this all has been such a big brew-ha-ha I want replacements in case I damage what I have and can’t find matching replacements in the future.

4x20 from light object would work… but they don’t list the length on that one, and I need the length to be at least 545mm. At this point I’m happy to take a hack saw to something to cut it to the size I need… might send them a e-mail asking for the length.
