I have received a request for a water bottle holder from a local volleyball club that must not doesn’t weigh too much but can hold 8 bottles of water each, each one liter.
I would like to sponsor them, but they don’t know yet.
For the task I found some sheets of 5mm BB plywood left over from another task. As always, I drew/designed everything in LightBurn, and only made 2 mistakes this time, which could be fixed by using the camera and rearranging the items in the laser machine again for “transformation”
I used too narrow a kerfsetting… I never learn it, so everything had to be hammered together. Still, I use a drop of superglue at the end to secure the most critical joints.
I noticed that the 5mm BB plywood is from the “pre-war period”, it is from Finland and this material cannot be bought for money anymore. It cuts great, no glue pockets or knots… that’s what they call special laser suitability.
I used insulation mats on the bottom. And the last picture with a drink is after work was over
I want to clarify what I mean by camera realignment in this project.
For some reason I have misplaced 4 slots on each side by 5mm. Since I don’t want to use more material on this prototype, I used the camera system in LighBurn to correct these slots. I draw a 4x4mm square and place it where the slots should be increased by 5mm.
I can quickly fine-tune the placement of the finished 5x5mm increase itself this way.
I had to move the slots 5mm further down.
Looks very nice! I’m sure they will be happy with it.
My only critique / personal preference is that i would have made it with a longitudinal handle so it can be carried with one hand. However there is nothing wrong with this design and it may be what they specified. Obviously I don’t know.
And no one will be the wiser, except for your friends on the forum, LOL.
Thanks for your comments and inspirations.
In my first draft/attempt there is actually a handle that could be elevated up and down, but it was very clumsy.
This one is made in a way that it should be able to be carried with one hand, the bottles do not fall out, I have tested that. 0p to about 55-60 degrees there is no problem with this type of bottles and the normal angle for one-handed carrying is about 45 degrees.
