how do i reset light burn back to its default settings

If you want to reset everything back to blank, as if you’d just installed on a new computer, you can do a File/Open Prefs. Then, CLOSE LightBurn. Delete the prefs.ini file in that directory. Restart LightBurn, and it will be back to fresh as a new install. If you just want to reset all of the windows to their defaults, you can do a Window/Reset to Default Layout.
