Right angle USB cable for lasers & Rotary chuck laser focusing

There are a lot of comments on many sites related to the USB cable location on top of the controller that sticks up and can easily be damaged when leaning over to pick up materials, place materials, or move the laser head. Simple solution. On Amazon they sell a right angle, and a left angle from one manufacturer who sells both left and right angle USB cables, and this will eliminate the height of the cable connection sticking out of the top of the control box. About seven bucks. Just thought I’d throw that out there because some people may be interested.

In addition, I have a rotary truck that I use for engraving tumblers and I have found out that if I raise my laser head about 2 mm above recommended focus using the spacer that’s provided or the drop-down device, it etches tumblers, and anything else, eliminating all the fine lines that you may see if you do a specific focus for that laser head. I just did 120 tumblers for a client and it took two test tumblers for me to figure out exactly the perfect speed, power, and distance from the proper focus to come up with an absolutely perfect etch through the material on the tumbler [Ray5 10W]. Just throwing it out there in case someone’s having difficulty getting a great etch on coated tumblers regardless of color…

Great idea!

Anchoring the cable at the laser head and the controller will eliminate any flexing that might damage the connector’s solder joints on those PCBs:

Ugly, but around here that counts for much less than eliminating further damage.
