Rotary Axis Not Functioning

I am attempting to use the rotary on my new co2 laser. When I enable the rotary, I can use the test and frame button and the laser head will move. Once I hit the start button there is not output at all. The rotary and laser head does not move. The laser does not fire either. It seems as though the file has not been sent to the laser because I do not even get an error message on the controller. My Ruidia controller firmware is V15.01.22.

I the rotary works fine when the rotary feature is not enabled.

I am using the latest version of Lightburn.

Any help?

I don’t think it will ‘frame’ nothing, so if it’s framing, it has something here to frame…?

Did you go to "Edit → Machine settings’ and save a copy of your configuration file. When you are done configuring the rotary, you can save those settings to a different file and reload the configuration for the table or normal operation.

Have you used this rotary on another machine prior to the ‘newly’ acquired laser?

What kind of rotary is it? A link is always good…

Do you just plug the rotary in the Y axes?

Was there any error on the Ruida screen?

What did you do to set this up?

Procedure… (link) ?

Did you follow Lightburn rotary setup?

Yes. The rotary is plugged into the y axis.

The rotary works fine. If I manually adjust the y pulse setting without using lightburns rotary feature everything works.

When I send a job with the rotary feature enabled nothing happens. At the bottom it says 0kb file sent. Implying it sent a file with no information to the laser.

Doing some research I saw that ruidia changed the way the rotary axis works and only firmware V15.01.19 or older will work. Not sure if that’s true since the rotary is just changing the y axis steps.

It is very odd to me that when the rotary feature is enabled it will frame the object, but won’t engrave it. I’ve never had this issue on any of my other machines.

I don’t know what make/model of controller. Mine is a 6442G and the version is 8.0…

I would say you don’t have it configured properly… with the limited information…

If it was, this probably would not be necessary.

No kind of error?

If there is no file on the Ruida, what should/would/could it frame?

Can’t say I’ve ever tried to frame ‘nothing’…

As far as the Ruida is concerned, it’s just operating the Y table. There is some value stored in the Ruidas controller.

You need to set this up properly, I’d suspect most of your issues would be gone.

All of this might help us help you.
