Rotary not turning on Comgrow 5W laser - Using LB

Hello all. I’m fairly new to the laser engraving world and to LB. I purchased a Comgrow 5W diode laser a few months ago and have been doing great with it. Purchased a Comgrow Rotary Engraving Machine II and got it hooked up per directions in the book. The rotary rollers will not turn when I test. The laser itself moves but the rollers do not. I have checked all connections, restarted everything, took a day to breathe, tried reconnecting in different sequences, and still cannot get the rotary rollers to turn. Is this a Lightburn setting?

I have opened the Rotary Setup, clicked Roller, turned on “enable rotary and mirror output”, set the axis to the book specifications with zero luck. Nothing on Youtube has been helpful either. I can only assume it’s a setting I’m missing somewhere.

Thanks!
Christie

Post a photo of your laser with the rotary connected showing the rotary connection

Just to verify, you unplugged the cable from the Y axis motor and plugged the connector into the rotary connector?

What happens when you go to the move window and use the arrow keys there? Try all 4 directions and report.

Show the move window after clicking the get position button.

Yes, Y axis unplugged and then plugged the Y1 into the rotary (the long cable in pic).

Got to Move window, click get position.

The only arrows that will work anything are the right and left, and they move the laser itself. The up and down do nothing.

I just watched a video on this. Does your machine have Y axis motors on both ends of the gantry? Did you disconnect both of them? That is necessary.

As a test, leave the rotary enabled and plug both Y motors back in, then press the up and down arrows and see if the gantry moves. If it does, it’s not a software issue, it’s something wrong with the rotary itself or the cabling.

This is the video I’m referencing. He also says the roller diameter is quite different from what you have input. That won’t affect whether it turns or not, but it will affect your outcome with an engraving.
He also talks about changing a setting in the console window, what he doesn’t do (CRITICAL) is tell you to backup the original settings so you can revert back after you’re done with the rotary. Before changing any machine settings, either in the console window or the Machine Settings window, make a backup.

Thank you so much. That video helped. I also took everything completely apart, started fresh, followed the video. And we’re golden. Thank you!!! Trying my first glass as we speak, so we’ll see what the outcome is.

Have a great day! -C

Glad you figured it out. Do you know what the problem actually was? It might help others in the future.
