Rotary setup - movement on 2 axis

Hi folks,

Working on setting up a chuck rotary tool, and having an issue with testing my parameters. When I hit the “Test” button, I am seeing movement on 2 axis (rotary/Y-axis, but also on the x-axis). I’ve noticed that changing parameters for “mm per rotation” adjusts the range of movement in 1 of the axis, and the “object diameter” (or circumference) will change the range of movement in the other axis.

My understanding is that these parameters should only adjust the one (rotary) axis - the mm per rotation is dependant on the chuck/hardware, and the object diameter refers to the size of the object to be engraved.

Thanks in advance, please let me know any added details needed.

(I’ve tried swapping the rotary to x- versus y-axis…this didn’t resolve the issue as it’s sending movement to both axis, one after the other.)

That’s not the way it works. The test will rotate the Y axis but the X axis will also move slightly after the rotation. The rotary should be connected to the Y axis.

Here’s some instructions i wrote on how to use the rotary. This is a word document so download then change the extension to .docx.
