Hello, i tried to load file that is created by Lightburn but always got no file message. Tried Fat32, NTFS, plugging directly to the controller in case damaged cable, nothing happened. Always the message that there is no file. Any help please?
Have you tried a different uDisk?
Yes same results
I think it’s supposed to read fat32, but it might be fat16… can’t remember. Got room to plug the usb into the device instead of the extension plug?
You might try using another usb stick to see if it will write to it…
Can you confirm what file you are using? You need to use the “RD” file created by using “Save RD File” in Laser window.
Exactly this is what i tried
What brand and size of USB drive are you using?
Additionally, here’s an excerpt from Ruida manual for 6445G:
This system supports such file formats of Udisk as FAT32 and FAT16, but it can identify them when the files are put under the root directory of Udisk. The file name of more than 8 characters will automatically be cut out by the system. The file name that has only English letters and digits will not show when they are copied to the mainboard. The files copied from the mainboard to Udisk will be placed under the root directory of Udisk.
So a few main conditions:
- FAT16 or FAT32
- 7-bit ASCII characters only
- 8.3 characters total
- must be in root directory
Are these conditions met?
Yes,
Fat32
File Name: Test
It was the only file in the USB stick root directory
To confirm, the file is “Test.rd”? Not sure if the extension is required but might be worth checking.
Yes test.rd saved from Lightburn
Not sure other than to try other brand/size of drive.
Tried ome more and had the same results. Thats what concerns me
What type and size drive have you tried?
I remember having a similar problem when I first got my Ruida controlled laser. It wouldn’t read an RD file from the USB thumbdrive.
I don’t remember the details exactly, but I think it was resolved by writing a file from the laser to an empty thumbdrive. After that, the thumbdrive was usable to transfer files from the PC to the laser.
My assumption was that it was something to do with the way the PC stored filenames, since the Ruida is strictly 8.3 and the PC makes multiple FAT entries to allow longer filenames.
Its a 32gb Kingston
This explanation makes sense. I will try this to check if works this way. So i suppose this way, a usb stick needs to be for the laser only and cannot be used for other things.
From my 6442g documentation…
This system supports such file formats of Udisk as FAT32 and FAT16, but it
can identify them when the files are put under the root directory of Udisk.
Pick up a 4/8mB stick and format it to fat32…
Good luck
This shouldn’t be the case. The format isn’t proprietary. However, it may be picky about how the disk is setup so formatting from the controller may resolve that.
Such a problem is also. He does not see files from the flash drive.
Praised to copy the file from the memory of the controller to the USB flash drive, everything turned out.
But there are differences: RDWorks saves with an extension …rld, and the machine is …rd. Where to dig?
Rename it to what it’s looking for… I’ve only done this once, but Lightburn appended the proper extension… Try saving it again with a simple name and no extension. The Ruida has a more restrictive character set and only a limited amount of characters.
