Ruida RDC6445G-MOD5 with touch screen

Hi guys!
I am preparing to upgrade my 20yrs old laser engraver with 25W RF tube that still works, just isn’t compatible with newer computers anymore (LPT port).

I want to put modern ruida controller, and since there is so little space to mount proper Control panel I was thinking about mounting this controller:

Ruida RDC6445G-MOD5

Has anyone tried this “MOD5” thingy? Is this ready to use - or do have to prepare some kind of interface by yourself?

Haven’t had a chance to put fingers on one, but one heads up. You can get the free Android app to control the Ruida via your cellphone instead of purchasing a dedicated physical remote. Somebody here wrote a more extensive remote app, but it’s not free.

Do I need special Wifi device to be able to use this android remote app? Is there any Ruida controller that already has the wifi adapter integrated?

They just have to be on the same network. I’m not aware of any wifi adapter for the controller, so you will have to plug it into the network. And it’s a static address, no DHCP. If I remember right, the default is 192.168.1.100, but you can change it in the controller. I use a non-standard sub group for security reasons, and it was a simple change.

Thank you for your ideas. They are surely worth trying.

I still can’t imagine machine without any “touchable” control panel. Maybe solution would be to mount control panel somewhere to the side of the machine and just get used to operate it with android app.

Still wondering if anyone has experience with mentioned display that comes with “RDC6445G-MOD5” kit.

You can load the android app and check it out. I believe it will still show the buttons without actually connecting to the controller. You can get it from Ruida’s web site, or I have it in a folder at the top of my Google Mod Page.
