Can I run and install software without hooking up to engraver?
If you mean can you design stuff in LightBurn with no laser connected, yes you can. You have to set up a workspace size in device settings. I have LightBurn on two computers, but only one laser, and I often design on one while the other one is burning.

If you don’t have a laser hooked up to your computer, you can create a laser manually as shown below, using your best guess for the settings. If you have a specific laser in mind, you can look up the appropriate settings for it in that machine’s support.
