Save As Issue - Save as action does not take on the first try

I have an intermittent issue on two different windows 10 machines where I go to save a new drawing (File-Save As), navigate to the folder I want to put it, give it a name, and click save. The dialogue box closes normally but when I look to the top bar of Lightburn it still says “untitled”. When I try to enter the Save As dialogue again, its as if I was never in there at all (file menu is still in the last project I was working on). Usually it is corrected the on the second try.

That’s super interesting. I’ll try to replicate it over the next week.

I have the same issue, but only when trying to save to a different drive or computer or server. Very frustrating and could result in loss of work.

The saving/loading works fine when I enable the “Bypass system Load / Save dialogs” option. This is not convenient due to the limited locations that are available with this dialog and that it doesn’t remember the last/current file locations.

This should be fixed with the next release.

We have an external app for the Win64 version that handles the save/load dialogs, because on a few systems (notably Dell computers) their backup utility uses the same framework we do for a thumbnail viewer utility. When you open a file dialog in LightBurn (or other applications) the thumbnail viewers are loaded. The Dell backup tool uses a different version of the framework than we do, but Windows makes it try to use ours, it crashes, and it takes LightBurn with it.

I wrote an external app that doesn’t use the framework at all, just to handle file open / save / import, and that gets around this weird thumbnail viewer crash, but it seems that newer versions of Windows, and some antivirus apps, think that this behavior is malicious or a security risk, and prevent the app from doing what it’s supposed to.

The next release adds a 3-way switch, and the default is now the way it was originally before any of this mess.

Great.

I’m using a Dell computer. Disabling thumbnails did help, but LB still would lock-up with high CPU usage sometimes. The “Bypass system Load / Save dialogs” option works, so that can be used until the release.

Same thing was happening to me like 2 months ago… make sure you have full disk access checked for lightburn… also all of a sudden it worked better during the new update a couple months ago

Thanks for looking into this, I’m having the same issue. I work on my google drive so I can get to the files between my computers and the ‘save as’ as well as ‘library save’, ‘library open’ and working with Art Libraries all seem to be affected. Sometimes you get what you ask for, sometimes it takes 3 or 4 tries and sometimes I have to exit and restart Lightburn. I’m assuming (dangerous I know…) that these are related and will all work better in the new release?
