I’m following up on a post I made back in July with some updated observations.
For me, the core issue still remains unresolved—the laser position indicator continues to flash briefly and disappear—but I recognize I may be overlooking a simple setting or action that enables it to work as intended. With the most recent updates, including LightBurn-v2.0.04, the problem persists, and I’ve once again reverted to LightBurn-v1.7.08. This is frustrating because I rely on this functionality to align my material precisely, and without it, I’m forced to use older versions that lack the new features and improvements introduced in 2.0. As far as I know, there’s no workaround, but if one exists, I’d be grateful to learn about it.
I’ve included the original post below for reference, along with the image that shows the red dot indicator I’m referring to.
Thank you again for any help or insight!
I am including a link to the original post but the details and image are also included below:
This may have already been addressed but I missed it. In the new 2.0 version, even the most recent addressed in this topic, the “saved positition” red dot indicator (shown in the attached screen shot circled in red) doesn’t remain. It does pop on the screen but only for about 0.5 seconds but then disappears. I have reverted back to 1.7.08 so I could continue to work with Lightburn till a fix is provided or I find a work around. I am using Windows 11, with a Omtech MF2028 machine. I just re-read posts and it seems this is a known issue so this may be a redundant question.
Using Lightburn 2.0.03.
On both my Mac and Windows 10 machine, with my Omtech 100watt C02 the position cursor does not appear until after I click the Get Position button in the Move Tab. Then, when I click show last position it appears and stays on screen until I uncheck show last position. It will work as expected from this point on until I restart Lightburn.
This isn’t a saved position indicator. This shows the last reported position of the laser head.
I guess you want to move your design to this position? You don’t need to. Just change to current position, enable cut selected graphics only and use selection origin. Then select what you want to send and it’s lasered at exact this position.
I’m not fully understanding your reply, though I believe there is a perspective here that I’ve not considered. I appreciate your assistance and I’m going to keep reading and studying it while using my laser to see if it opens new insights for me.
We call that “Learning”. If there is a lot to learn, we call that a “Steep Learning Curve”. This does not necessarily mean difficult, just a lot of things that are involved. Laser = Steep Learning Curve. Materials = Steep Learning Curve. Lightburn = Steep Learning Curve.
Can you imagine what you get if you combine all three? I will help you…
Laser + Materials + Lightburn = “A Hobby That Never Gets Boring!”
