Scallop Shell laser cutting and or engraving

Maybe not a lot of people will understand me on this but I will give it a try.

Most people think of scallop shells as those that have the scallop ridges.

Sea Scallops don’t have those ridges and are a LOT bigger. They are what I call “flat”. They are really not flat, but they don’t have the ridges.

OK - hopefully you follow that. If not I will find some pictures

Question is ---- Has anyone tried to cut and/or engrave scallop shells or something similar.

Have not had any real good luck on any type of shell. Not much contrast and on high-power all it does is ablate the area around what your focus is on.

Not sure about shells but Mother of Pearl can be laser cut
