Laser THUNDER BOLT PRO 32 (ruida)
LIGHTBURN 1.7.08
There are two identical inscriptions. I engrave one at an angle of 0°, and the second at an angle of 180°. As a result, one inscription at an angle of 0° is clear, and at an angle of 180° it is blurred. It seems that when rotating by 180°, the program reduces the pixels. This is even visible on the laser monitor. Is this how it should be? I think not and that this is a problem with the program.
Why is this necessary? … Engrave in the direction of the dust from the engraving or in the direction of the clean material.
I know that the LightBurn version is outdated. Will the new one help? Has anyone encountered such a problem?
Hi Niku,
The issue isn’t the software reducing quality — it’s more to do with how motion behaves when scanning in reverse. Even though 0° and 180° feel like they should be symmetrical, in practice they’re not always identical, for a number of complicated firmware and mechanical reasons.
Mechanically, things like belt tension or slight differences in how the gantry moves up vs down and the head left vs right can affect edge sharpness. On top of that, DSP controllers like Ruida might not decelerate or stop the laser quite the same way when scanning in reverse, especially if overscan is tight, as I understand it, from how the firmware is programmed.
It’s subtle, but it can be just enough to cause blur at 180° that doesn’t show at 0°.
