Sculpfun s30- expansion, laser going crazy!

Help! I assembled my sculpfun s 30 pro expansion, and cute 3 big sheets 850x850 already with no complications, yet suddenly, doing this on a smaller block its almost like the laser doesnt know its exact location, and I tried to let it start from home, and user origin that is more in the centre of the frame. I unplugged and replugged the cables going to the laser aswell and no success. It is also the correct distance from the wood and not moving the wood around or bumping into it. Please help! Any suggestions!

(Yes my frame is on the floor, i do have a grid below, waiting for my bigger table to arrive so floor must work for now)

So, quickly I would say that with this length, the belts would have to be more tensioned than when the length is shorter.

Since it has already worked and turned like this, I would say that either the belts are too loose, or the bolts that hold the pulleys to the motor shafts need to be adjusted.

Hi! Thanks! I adjusted the belts to have more tension, I also adjusted the bolts as they were looser, and tightened them. It did help until line 3 and then it goes all wonky again. I did a few tests as well. Any other suggestions?

With those short rapid moves, is it possible the frame is sliding around on the floor? With long sweeping curves and lines, It would not try to move so much.

In this case, do the belts and screws remain adjusted or have they become loose again?
If they become loose again, it’s probably because they aren’t tightened correctly and end up loosening with movement.

If they remain tight, consider Mike’s suggestion, although I believe that in this case the problem would have manifested itself from the beginning.

But it’s difficult to assess without knowing the conditions under which the engraving is being done.

If you could post a screenshot of the “Cuts/Layers” window settings, that would be helpful.

Hi I did a test again but its not moving on the floor. I set my x axis movement to 2000 instead of 3000 aswell.

Can you clarify?
I am start to thinking about motor drive overheat but first we need to have everything else clarified.

Without watching it run, my bet is on mechanical. Stepper motor overheat on that S30 is very unlikely unless you went in and screwdrivered the driver module pots on the controller board.

Mine too.:+1:

That’s why it’s important to clarify whether the play will reappear or not.

If it’s not a mechanic, I’ll start thinking about electronic causes…

Did you adjust the current setting on the control board?

If this has already been done, reducing the speed and acceleration may help.
